Karlsruhe 2

May 4, 2012

Back in Karlsruhe with Tom Neurath from Thames and Hudson to take part in a panel discussion about Swinging London, Rainer Metzger has just published London In the Sixties. The audience all understands English so no translators are needed. Dinner the next day at Rainer’s house with just one bottle of wine – a huge bottle called an Imperial, so large it took two people to hold it and decant it. A table full of art curators, dealers, gallerists in a long room lined floor to ceiling on both sides with books. Much discussion of ‘crossing the river’ to buy their cheese and where exactly to go. Across the Rhine is France.
